Lyndhurst Studio Debuts Sheri Berry Collections

Lyndhurst Studio of Lyndhurst, N.J., a division of Northcott Silk of Woodbridge, Ontario, announces a new collection of quilting fabrics created by Sheri Berry Designs.

The new baby-oriented collection, with lines called “Emma Louise” and “Ethan Michael,” were created especially for Lyndhurst Studio by designer and illustrator Sheri McCulley Seibold, principal of the Sheri Berry studio of Merriam, Kansas.

After meeting Sheri at an industry event and seeing both her portfolio and prototyped samples of work, Lyndhurst Studio design director Beverly Stillwell was struck by “what an ideal fit Sheri’s look would be” for baby fabric lines she was developing.

“Sheri’s style perfectly captures the sweet, playful, and nostalgic feel that many quilters are looking for today. At the same time, it is something completely fresh and different–It actually made me want to have a baby!” says Stillwell.

For Sheri, or “Sheri Berry” as she is becoming known in the industry, working with Lyndhurst/Northcott was a perfect opportunity to develop children’s characters in a style she had long envisioned, and to combine them into a line that also includes coordinating small-print fabrics in multiple colorways.

Sheri says she appreciated the way Beverly provided clear guidance on how to format her art for quilting while preserving the essence of the Sheri Berry look. “It’s clear that Beverly really respects an artist’s instincts,” says Sheri. “She was a wonderful collaborator by providing feedback and direction without detracting from the freedom I needed to express what I had imagined for ‘Emma’ and ‘Ethan.’ She also has a great sense of humor, and I think that comes through in the joy and brightness this collection reveals.”

“This is a design-driven industry,” says Northcott Silk vice president Brian O’Rourke. “And when we saw Sheri’s portfolio we knew her type of characters, patterns, and colors represented the originality, quality, and style we seek to bring to our buyers. Capturing the Sheri Berry look in fabric gives Lyndhurst/Northcott something that both speaks to our quilters’ love of tradition yet stands out from everything else on the market.”

The collection includes both girl and boy-oriented patterns in multiple colorways, as well as gender-neutral small prints which can be used in any combination with them. The collection includes over 30 patterns and colorways in both 100% cotton and flannels. New quilt patterns designed to help quilters make the most of the new collection are also available from retailers who carry Lyndhurst Studio products.

“I hope quilters have as much fun making things with ‘Emma’ and ‘Ethan’ as I did designing them,” says Sheri Berry. “It’s delightful to imagine these fabric designs being used on quilts, blankets, pillows, and other nursery decor.”

The fabrics have already received a strong reception from buyers, including an initial order from the Beverlys fabric and craft store chain. Lyndhurst Studio fabrics are sold in over 300 stores in the USA, Canada, and Europe. See www.lyndhurststudio.com for additional distribution information.
